Sega’s Yakuza Studio To Announce New Game In August

The studio behind Sega’s critically-acclaimed Yakuza series (known as Ryu Ga Gotoku in Japan) has announced on its website that it is holding a special event on August 26. At the event, Ryu Ga Gotoku is planning to announce a new title, though it do not say the series will be in the Yakuza series directly.

Sega’s Chief Creative Officer and Yakuza Studio producer, Toshihiro Nagoshi, will be present at the show, and he has stated there will be multiple announcements.

Our Take
Considering the first Yakuza game has been remade for PlayStation 4 under the title of Yakuza Kiwami, a remake of the second much-loved Yakuza game seems inevitable. It has, however, been a long time since the studio has made anything that isn’t Yakuza, so we would welcome something like their efforts with Binary Domain again.
