The sequel to 2016’s Suicide Squad has brought on Gavin O’Connor, the director of The Accountant, to write and direct the movie, according to Hollywood Reporter.
Rumors had been swirling for some time about other choices, including Mel Gibson, but Warner Bros. has chosen O’Connor as a cap to a whirlwind few months of announcements of DC movie follow ups.
Suicide Squad had an all-star cast including Will Smith, Jared Leto, and Margot Robbie, and achieved box office success despite a mixed critical and fan reception. Hot off the heels of the successful Wonder Woman, Warner Bros. has been pushing harder on the DC brand and the star-studded Suicide Squad is a good avenue to try again.
